Hi all,
We have now been at Machon for one week, and have had barely a second to breath the whole time. The last week has been mostly traveling, like our orientation week for AZYC. However, we all enjoyed it a lot more than that first week. Activities included a two day hike, and day trips to Har Herzl, the Kotel tunnels, and our local area. A large group of people spent last weekend in Tel Aviv too, so we have been very busy in recent times! Here are a few photos to show what we have been up to:
| One of our weekly schedules. Classes include Hebrew, Judaism, Hadracha (leadership), Zionism/Israel, Story of the Jewish People, and a variety of classes that focus on interacting with sorts of people - other Machoniks, minority groups in Israel, and guest speakers too. We are all very excited for our classes, which properly begin tomorrow morning. |
| One of the many Arab villages we drove through. |
| The Bahai Gardens - these were beautiful, symmetrical and absolutely huge! Everyone loved them. |
| The view from Kibbutz Ravid, during Habo Seminar. We did a walk during the week that talk us to the very end of the mountain ridge, and the view from there was spectacular too. |
| Tiyul Gibush - a two day hike in the Judean desert as part of Machon orientation week. We were led blind-folded for a couple hundred metres, at one point, to the edge of this cliff. You can see the Jordanian hills in the background, then the built sections of the Dead Sea, and the white buildings are extremely high class Dead Sea resort buildings. The hike was a great opportunity to make friends and see a different aspect of Israel. |
| Some of the massive - and crazy - apartments that exist in Jerusalem. |
| We visited the Kotel tunnels at about 6 30pm, when it was already dark. This made the experience all the more exciting. It was also quite ironic how touristy the area that was nearest the Holy of Holies was. |
| The door to a club in Tel Aviv. Unfortunately we didn't have time during our free weekend to see if the inside was as interesting as the outside, as we went out in a different part of the city. On the stop sign, someone has added the word "wars". |
| Tel Aviv beach - windy but relaxing nonetheless. |
| | |
| The end of a long but fun weekend. We were one exhausted group of shnatties! |
